Lotsa stuff going on!

Hey all!

I apologize for my absence lately. The time is slipping away from me! Things have been kinda nutty!

First off, my great grandmother passed away last week so I was in northern Minnesota for her funeral. It was a beautiful service and it was so interesting meeting all of her friends. Some of them that she has had almost her entire life, which is almost a century! She was 98 when she passed. Isn't that amazing? I am sad for her death, but on the other hand I feel very fortunate to have been able to grow up with a great grandmother in my life!

Work has been what is stressing me out the most. Awhile back I discovered one of our deposits was short a rather significant amount of cash. Today as I was auditing the month of June I decided to look even deeper and verify a few more things. As I was crunching numbers and verifying, verifying, verifying I found two more shortages in smaller amounts but added up equals to much larger. It is by the same person and the amounts are very even, so the likelihood of it just being a mistake is slim. Oh, and it's the same person. Coincidence? Probably not.

I'm so bummed, because I hired this person three years ago at the company I worked at before. She followed me here and I consider her a friend. I'm taking this very personal, because it feels like she is stealing from me. Not just the company I work for. It is out of my hands now, and in a week things may be very different for me at work. At the end of the day it is a good thing, I do not want a thief in my store but in the end I will be losing a friend.

I have gone through this before with a friend and it's hard. People make mistakes and I am a very forgiving person but they also know right from wrong and this is just plain wrong.

Then... last weekend "the boy" told me to f**k off. Nice, huh? Why did he say that you ask? Could be because I have been flat out ignoring his texts.... and now I will continue to do so.

So, that is what is going on with me! Keep your fingers crossed that this all works out. Have a happy and safe 4th of July!

I can't imagine living to be 98. I mean almost making it through a century?

That's awful about what's happening at work. Hopefully it works out. And when you say things will be very different in a week, I'm hoping its going to be a good change for you.

Sorry to hear about your great grandmother, but I can't imagine the things she saw in her life!

It's never easy dealing with things at work like that, especially when it is someone you trust -- good luck with that.

Hope you have a great 4th!

Happy 4th Amber! And you know, just remember, things have a weird way of working out in regards to friends, boyfriends, jobs, etc.

Oh, and your great grandmother had an amazing life--imagine what she must have seen in almost a century, plus to have all those friends her entire life.

Oh, I have to go pack for my trip tomorrow to Boston = I am a packing procrastinator!!

Have a great 4th of July!!!

Also, anyone who steals and does it knowingly isn't a friend...

And that boy....he sucks at life!

Aww, I'm sorry to hear about your great grandmother, but it sounds like she lived a very long and full life! My great grandmother is 85 years old and I feel very fortunate to still have her in my life!

That REALLY sucks about your friend, I still don't understand how people can think they can steal from places like that and get away with it!!? I worked with a girl before who was overcharging people's credit cards and just denied it when she got caught, it's like the proof is right here!!!

Have a good long weekend and try to relax!!

PS: Thanks for your email! Super helpful, I may email you with more questions next week :-)

goodness there are a lot of things going on in this post. first of all i'm sorry to hear about your great grandma but what a wonderful experience to meet her friends. i too still have two great grandmothers and they are such a breath of fresh air.

that is a disheartening situation with your co-worker. it is so hard to trust people and once you do sometimes it seems trust is so easily broken.

boo on the guy. i'm at the point where i'm going to throw in the towel on dating for a bit and just be "me".

happy 4th!

ps. new blog - kindoffine.wordpress.com, no more caterpillar85.wordpress.com

please update :) i wouldn't want to lose you as a reader!

Sorry to hear about the loss in your family but it sounds like she lead a full life.

During these difficult economic times, people tend to do things that they normally wouldn't do. But if she is doing it, it doesn't excuse her at all. It is a tough situation to go through. I hope it gets cleared up soon.
