Many of you have switched over to Wordpress recently and it's something I have been giving a lot of thought to as well.
As most of you know, I made my blog available to some of my IRL friends and even posted it on my Facebook page but quickly took it down out of paranoia. Well, now I feel like I can't say all I want to say or talk about things that are going on in my life in fear of who might be reading. I do use sitemeter and can sort of figure out if anyone I actually know in person is reading, but I can't be 100% sure. I'm basically regretting it 100%, it's something I can't take back and has been bothering me for some time now.
I want my blog to be just for me and YOU GUYS. I love your unbiased opinions and your unconditional support. Seriously, love it. Quitting this blog literally gets me choked up every time I think about it because it's become a big part of my daily life. That may be dorky to my IRL friends, but I don't care. Call me a dork! :)
I guess what I want to know is, for those of you that have made the switch from Blogger to Wordpress, how did it go? Is it time consuming? Can I upload my posts from Blogger to Wordpress? Do you like it better?
All I know is I need to do something because these paranoid feelings aren't going anywhere and I really hate it. Hate it to the point where I almost delete TONS of posts because I'm afraid of hurting someone.
The thing is I don't want to delete them because that would mean deleting all your wonderful comments as well and I go back and look at them when I'm needing encouragement, which lately, is a lot.
I've been in the process of switching from blogger to wordpress for WEEKS now. Wordpress is really confusing but I think once I get the hang of it I will like it better!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, my blog has always been accessible to everyone. And while I don't really care that much, there are times that I want to rant about Eric or my family and can't because I don't want to hurt anyones feelings! Sometimes I wish my blog was anonymous but for the most part I don't mind friends and family reading it!
"I have thought about switching over too.... can you upload your posts from blogger to wordpress?"
ReplyDeleteI do not know, but I was a nerd and bought the wordpress for dummies, so if I read anything about it I'll let you know. and wordpress is so much better than blogger! I'm loving it. I was actually able to set up an acct pretty easily- over two days :)
Also one last thing, if you do change, please be kind and let me know so I can update your link on my blogroll :D
Oh man. Everyone is moving :( Will I be the only one left on Blogger?!!?
ReplyDeleteI don't mind if my IRL friends read my blog. I'm an open book and they end up hearing the stories too. Although there is one thing I wish I could blog about but can't because no one is meant to know.... damn it!
If you move please tell me!!
I have no idea. Why is word press better? I hope not everyone leaves me here alone. I love the community feel! xo
ReplyDeleteI only know Blogger! Maybe you could have 2 blogs, and put one on Word Press, although I guess that does sound complicated. Although I do know someone who has recently started an anonymous blog in addition to her regular blog. No, it's not me, silly!!! But let us know what you decide to do.
ReplyDeleteI can totally identify about the IRL friends. Two people I have never met but I KNOW quite well... I guess I can say two people that know my identity know my blog url and read often... but I am TERRIFIED of IRL people finding it. Would never post a real pic! I think a move could be fantastic if it would let you be more open and free... after all, isn't that what this bloggy life is about?
ReplyDeleteI'v thought of switching over too- I guess it's the whole "learning how to do it over again". I've heard wordpress is great though- maybe one day I'll switch over :D
ReplyDeleteI will absolutely let you all know if I switch! I don't think I could handle more than one blog, as much as I wish I could! Maybe someday when I'm independently wealthy! Ha! :)
ReplyDeleteLarissa, I have looked at that book before at Barnes and Noble, let me know if it's worth it to buy!
Pursuit, being completely anonymous is one of the reasons I want to switch. I'm not sure anymore who "irl" I know is reading this and it totally freaks me out!
I'm loving blogspot. I don't think I would ever switch. I love these people too much.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you just make your blog private? Then you have control as to who is reading it.
