Just Checking In!

Hello!

There are million things I should be doing right now, but ... I just  ... can't. Blogging has been on my mind a lot lately. I have seen it evolve from something so obscure (and weird to some) to being a common term that everyone knows now. In that time I have evolved too, as have many of my favorite bloggers. We have gone from writing regularly five times a week to rarely writing at all and coming back to regular blogging in small spurts of time.

I have considered giving blogging up many times and resorting to just reading blogs, but then I remember why I started blogging. I started because I like to write. I like to connect with people. I like the feeling of getting a comment and making that connection, which turns into a new friend.

So, I am still here, and here I will remain, but I am sure things will continue to be very sporadic! In the meantime, how about a little bulleted update, shall we?

  • We bought a house! We're in the new house and we love it! Since we moved in, we ripped out all the old carpet, painted all the walls and began pulling out the icky old flooring in the kitchen and started to tile the entryway, kitchen and a portion of the living room that is a walkway to the deck door. The house looks SO much better, and smells better too ... we moved into a house that was owned by smokers previously. It smelled AWFUL. Luckily, you cannot tell now!
  • The wedding planning is going great! I ordered my invitations last night - finally! I am so excited to send them out. We have a long ways to go, but things are coming along and I know it will all get done ...
  • School is done in exactly two weeks. We have 9 school days left. NINE. What. the. hell? Time seriously flew for me this year. It totally feels like I was just meeting these kids for the first time last week! It is amazing how much we have covered in a year and how much these fourth graders have changed in 9 months time.
  • I am still working out 6-7 days per week. My running has taken a nose dive though, and I have been a Zumba fool lately. I'm actually considering not running the Dam to Dam half marathon on May 31st, because I have not kept up on my long runs. I am really sad about it, and honestly very, very torn, but I do not think it would be responsible to try and run that on very little distance training. Shockingly though, my pace has improved and when I do go out for shorter runs, I am holding a 10 minute pace, which is amazing for me!
How have you been?? Let me know in the comments what is new in your life!!

  1. I think it would be a responsible decision to not run D2D. I know it will suck to miss out but it'd suck more to injure yourself if you did run it and that might prevent you from working out for awhile which would not be good in the weeks leading up to your wedding as I am sure you need the stress outlet! Plus you guys did not have a good spring for running so it's hard to get motivated when it was so cold and icky out there.

You'll have to share some photos of your house! I'd love to come down for a weekend sometime after the wedding is behind you so I look forward to eventually seeing it in person. :)

What's new in my life is that I am home and trying to see as many people this week as I can without wearing myself out too much. I get to meet the babies of 2 friends tomorrow, saw Phil last night, have dinner plan tonight, will run with Phil tomorrow night and then on Friday I head to the lake to see family! Phew! Lots going on but all good things! :)

  2. Agree with Lisa - you know your body and your runs and if you think it's pushing it, don't run the D2D. So glad you're settling into the house and just think - in nine days you'll have more free time to read and relax and finish up wedding stuff because it will be summer! Woo hoo!!

Things are rolling along here! May was my crazy month but we're finally on the downhill slope of it. I'll be on a fabulous family vacation the first week of June and then when we come back focusing on us moving, the Walk of Hope, and then the actually moving process in July!

  4. I know exactly what you mean about the blogging community. It's kind of crazy to think how it's changed over the last few years. I know lately I haven't kept up very well with my own blogging, but it's just not something I see my life without at least not for a long time. So we'll see, and hopefully we both fall into a better groove as things calm down a bit.

  6. You could always do D2D and run what you can and walk when you can't. You're in good enough shape that as long as you listen to tired legs you should be good!

  7. Glad to see your post! I am in the category of rarely posting these days--but miss it and keep trying to get back into it. I think it is just a habit I need to re-create. See you soon!!

    xoxo
