Bookish habits...

I found this meme from Book Chick City and couldn't resist following suit! :)

Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?
Well, since I have gone on a book buying hiatus... none of them! I haven't quit cold turkey, I'm just being much more frugal. The last book I bought was The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon after Amber's suggestion. I plan on buying another book tomorrow because I have a coupon for 40% off at Borders. What should I pick up?

Waterstones, Borders or Amazon?
I'm a fan of Borders because I think they have the best deals, and they always have a 40% off coupon out. Can't beat that! I like Barnes and Noble to read and people watch at!

Bookmark or dog-ear?
Usually bookmark, but I have been known to dog ear... it's a horrible habit!

Amazon or brick-and-mortar?
Brick and mortar, I could spend hours in bookstores!

Alphabetize by author, or alphabetize by title, or random?
By author!

Keep, throw away, or sell?
I wouldn't dream of throwing them away! I have sold a lot of books, but always keep my favorites or give away to a friend. I recently gave Scoop Me Skinny a box full of books! I love giving books to people that I know WILL read them! :)

Keep dust jacket or toss it?
I wouldn't dream of throwing this away either! If the book is big I think it's easier to remove it while reading it, but I will put it back on when it gets stored on the shelf.

Read with dust jacket or remove it?
Haha, guess I just answered this! :) If it's a shorter novel I will keep it on. Just depends on if it stays put or not. Whatever is comfiest for me!

Short story or novel?
Definitely novels! I haven't been able to get into collections of short stories.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?
I have not read Lemony Snicket, but I adore Harry Potter!!

Buy or borrow?
About 80% borrow and 20% buy... If it's something I really want I will probably cave and go buy it!

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?
In order... Recommendations, book reviews, browse. If I like one book by an author I will most likely locate everything else by that author and read it.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?
This is tough to answer. I love to hate cliffhangers! Haha! :)

Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?
Nighttime reading... it's when I read the most pages.

Stand-alone or series?
I hardly ever want a good book to end so I love series!

Favourite series?
Easy. Harry Potter. Hands down. Nothing comes close. :)

Favorite children’s book?
When I was a kid I was obsessed with the Sweet Valley Twins. I thought life would be perfect if I was Elizabeth!

Favourite YA book?
I am just now getting interested in YA novels... and am pretty excited about it! Right now my favorites are the Twilight books.

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?
This is tough, everything I think of I have probably already talked about on here! I really liked A Total Waste of Makeup by Kim Gruenfelder. It's a light chick lit novel that is really cute.

Favourite books read last year?
Last year was when I first picked up Harry Potter, so those were my favorites!

Favourite books of all time?
Oh gosh, there are way too many to choose from... I guess I'm going with HP again!

Favorite book to recommend to an 11-year-old?
Definitely anything by Judy Blume! It should be practically required to read this as a pre-teen.

Favorite book to re-read?
Take a guess....

Do you ever smell books?
Haha, all the time!

Do you ever read primary source documents like letters or diaries?
I haven't, but that sounds interesting!

What are you reading right now?
I am reading A Wild Affair by Gemma Townley. The sequel to The Importance of Being Married.

What are you reading next?
Easy on the Eyes by Jane Porter!

There's my book meme! What do you like when it comes to books? I tag anyone that loves to read like I do!

I hope you all have a relaxing Labor Day!

  1. I've been debating for days now what to do with 3 or 4 books that I've read and don't really need anymore (someone gave them to me even). Do you want them? They're 3 books from the gossip girl series.. let me know. Shoot me an email because I'll be out of town till Thursday.

  2. I loved Sweet Valley High! I saw the picture you posted somewhere in a magazine and I think it looks totally amazing (organized books by color) although I don't know how they would find anything. Harry Potter is ready for pickup at the library! I wonder if they are open today since it is a holiday...
