Yay! I am back for another installment of MLMB for August! Two months in a row! I would say I am on a roll ... hehe :)
August was a great month, despite going back to work and I am feeling really good!
Miles
Ummm, close to none. I decided to give my foot a break and hopefully heal this plantar fasciitis and achilles tendonitis. This weekend I was on my feet a lot and noticed that I had very minimal heel pain, so my fingers are crossed that it is on the mend!
Looks
Well, school started, so many of my looks are back with work outfits! I found some really cute shoes that are made very well, and are not flimsy flats, like I am used to wearing. I'm working on breaking them in, but they are super cute and I really love them!
I found this statement necklace at Kohl's and after a $10 Kohl's cash, I paid $3 for it. Steal!
Here I am at Frank Lloyd Wright's estate, Taliesin in Spring Green, WI. If I can get away with it, I am always in running clothes. They are just so darn comfy! Plus, we did a lot of walking on this tour! Blog post coming soon ...
My first day of school look! The maxi skirt is NOT supposed to be high waisted, but I am so short that I could probably wear it as a dress. It was super comfy though. I wish it wasn't so unique to my style, otherwise I would try to get away with wearing it once a week ...
Music
I'm in a Top 40 phase. I want upbeat and happy music! Nothing is really sticking out, except for ... All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor. I'm not ashamed! It has a great beat, a good message and you just can't help but sing along, riiiiight!!?
Books
My reading has slowed down again now that school has started, but I am trying to make time for it! I know that I need that time for myself, so I really have to protect that time.
In August I finished 3 books:
Dollbaby by Laura Lane McNeal 4/5 stars
Landline by Rainbow Rowell 3/5 stars
Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman 4/5 stars
My favorite being Dollbaby by far! It is technically considered "southern lit" and it reminded me of The Help or Saving Cece Honeycutt. Such a great story with a heartwarming twist at the end that I was NOT expecting!
Overall, August has been great! I am looking forward to a fun September. We have two FUN weddings coming up that I am excited for in September and a weekend trip to Spencer. We are only in Des Moines one weekend, which means we will be busy, busy, busy, but that is how I like it! I am also really looking forward to getting to know my 28 new friends in my classroom better and establishing a solid routine and getting going on the fourth grade curriculum. Sometimes when I look at the curriculum as a whole it is just so daunting, but I know we will get through it and I will improve each year as a teacher!
Oh, and also in September I am excited about posting my wedding recap! I have started it and it is also quite a daunting task! I promise it will be coming, so check back!
Thanks for reading!
What is your miles, looks, music and books for August?
I did this post today, too. :) I am glad that you had a great month of August, despite having to return to school! I am glad your heel pain is better. Getting supportive shoes is so helpful when you have foot problems, I think. I hate how much my shoes cost now but I know my feet are happier as a result.
ReplyDeleteI love those flats and the maxi skirt outfit you put together, I have the same problem with maxi skirts but never thought to wear it that way. Love it :)
ReplyDeleteOnce I saw that you liked Dollbaby I added it to my list to read. I enjoy Southern Lit!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could wear maxi skirts to work everyday. they are incredibly comfortable (ditto running clothes!)
Love that song you shared, too. I can't help but sing it!
I did this post today too! I love that maxi skirt on you -- looks so great! I need some better flats, all of mine are so uncomfortable except for my toms which obviously aren't exactly professional footwear!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love "All About That Bass." LOOOOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteI just wore that maxi skirt to work today hahahah. I am thinking of cutting it hemmed cuz yeah, I'm short and it's long, but PERFECT for teaching. I kinda want one in like every color.
ReplyDeleteI've heard such great things about Dollbaby. I've been really wanting to read it especially knowing it takes place in Louisiana.... at least I'm pretty sure that's correct!
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah for recaps! I completely understand how daunting they can be. I think mine took up 20+ posts, and over a year to get them all posted. But I wanted to remember all the details, so I'm glad I got it all down. I can't wait to see all your pictures though, and hear all about the fun!!
