Books 'n Bars (November)

On Wednesday we had our sixth BNB meeting. SIXTH! I'm so excited that we're still growing and that everyone else is so excited!

I need to learn how to make buttons and write codes and stuff because I want a cute little button to market Books 'n Bars. Possibly a winter break project? I should have plenty of time - hello an entire month off! (SO.EXCITED! I have big plans for ... nothing. Besides lots of reading for FUN).

Anyway.

Books 'n Bars was this week at The Lift. There were seven people there with two new faces and one male member (we're up to two now! Woot, woot!)

We read We Need To Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver... but, we only had one member able to finish the book. Several others were about 3/4th the way through, so instead of discussing the book in detail we figured we would wait until the end of December when we meet again to talk about it. This month was insanely busy for me, so I understand not being able to finish the book. Usually I make reading for fun a priority, because I think it's important, but this month I just didn't get to this one. (cough, cough - I'vebeenreadingtoomuchYAforchildrenslit - cough, cough)

For the month of December we have decided to read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, which is a WWII book, narrated by death. Yes, death. I have had so many people recommend this book to me, including Drake professors, so to say I am excited to read this, is an understatement. I love WWII books and I am on a huge young adult kick right now (technically this book is YA) so I really hope this lives up to my high expectations.

We are meeting at Rock Bottom on University in West Des Moines on Wednesday, 12/28 at 7:30. If you are in the area, we would love to have you! Everyone is welcome! If you're interested in participating, but not in the area, contact me. We can figure something out and you can join us via FaceTime (for iPhone users) or Skype. You can grab a drink, sit at home and join in on the conversation! (Don't you just love technology??)

What have you been reading lately? Have you read either of these books?

Note: I'll add pictures of the books later today - for some reason Blogger is refusing to upload them.
