Kindle vs. Nook

Ok guys, I am definitely getting a Nook or Kindle for my birthday but am on the fence about which one...

So, in the comments tell me which one you like best! I am not getting the Nook Color, I'm getting just a plain e-reader. I don't need internet or any bells and whistles really... I will literally just read books on it. Probably mostly at the gym.

Can't wait to hear what you guys think!

  1. I recommend the Nook because you can lend books to other Nook owners - and you can't do that w/ the Kindle! And I have a Nook, so we could lend each other books!

And I recommend getting the 3G version, which is a little more pricey... unless you are consistently around a wifi network...

Lastly, if you want to try to check out e-books from the library, you can download these onto your computer & then upload them on to the Nook. You can't do this w/ a Kindle as it doesn't accept the format that library e-books use...

You will love it, though! I have my nook on me at all times. It's so light and portable. I had to read a couple of books before I got used to reading books on a nook, but now I love, love, love it!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Kindle has just opened a new option to be able to lend books to other users, so that isn't really a concern anymore.

I know several people that received Nooks for Christmas and have had HUGE problems not being able to download books, being double charged, horrible customer service, etc.

Also, the kindle has apps for your laptop, smart phone, iPad, etc. so if you ever want a bigger screen, there is an option.

I love my kindle. So far, no problems!

  4. I love my Kindle! I haven't had any problems so far, and you can lend books between kindles now. Also, I prefer Amazon to Barnes and Noble as far as customer service goes. Amazon has a ton of free books as well if you watch out for them.

I never thought I was an e-reader type of girl, but I'm obsessed!

  5. I love my Nook! I've had zero problems with it as far as downloading books, charging, etc. that d.a.r. mentioned. It's super fast and very easy to use.

There is also the Nook app for your phone and in my opinion, it's a better interface than the Kindle app.

My mom has the Kindle and loves it.

I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong either way!

  6. I received a Kindle for Christmas and I am loving it so far. I find it mostly easy to use and I like how Amazon has some free books you can download. So far, I have read two of the free books and they were pretty good. I have also taken the Kindle to the gym and it works well for that application.
I think either way you will probably be happy!

  9. I'm keeping it old school with real books but I'd go for the kindle if I was going to pick one.

  10. As you know, I received a Nook for Christmas and it is the color one. I am still figuring it out and am going to add about 5 books to it tonight. I love that it has Pandora on it for when I work out. Although I know you said you don't want or need all the bells & whistles. I think you should get a Nook because then you and I can share books electronically! Also, I just think the Nook is more aesthetically pleasing than the Kindle and finally if you get a regular Nook you can get a Kate Spade cover for it.

    The End
    My Two Cents

  11. I love my Kindle. And like someone mentioned, you can now lend some books. I haven't had an issue with mine at all and it has great battery life. I carry it when I commute on the train and love that it will sync to my iPhone app.

  12. Kindle! Long battery life, easy to use, free books, sharing books now, also can find cute covers and skins, and wifi to download books in under 60 seconds! Don't purchase a color Nook unless you enjoy eye strain. No eye strain with Kindle since it simulates a real book.
