Out of control shopping...

My shopping has been out. of. control. Seriously. I need to set a limit on what I can spend on myself for the next two months otherwise my family and friends are getting nada for Christmas!

Oh, and my limit I can spend on myself should be NOTHING! I do not need anything for the rest of the year. I'm a bargain shopper and couple that with being a fashion major and knowing the insane mark up on clothes stores have means I always find ridiculous deals because I'm willing to wait. But, those ridiculous deals add up.

A couple of weeks ago Payless Shoes had that 50% off sale and I went a little crazy buying shoes. I love name brands and would much rather be able to drop the dough on some Uggs or great shoes from Aldo, like these (which by the way, have turned out to be the most comfortable boots ever and I can wear them for 8 hours standing and not have sore footsies) but I'm not and I'm happy with shoes from Payless every once in awhile!

So, last night Cy and I were watching tv in my room and it was only the second time he had seen my bedroom (I am not that type of girl, it's just easier to lay down and watch tv there than the living room) and well, I had a mountain of shoes piled up against the wall. Including all the boots I have bought recently. Of course he noticed and asked me if I had enough boots... which of course I replied with a girl never has too many shoes...

It was funny, but a little eye opening. With only 50 days left to shop for Christmas I need to stop being so selfish! I haven't even started shopping yet, or made a list. Have you made your list or started shopping?

Today I'm off, so it would be a perfect day to get out there and pick up a few things. Tonight Cy and I are cooking enchiladas together. Should be interesting! I will let you all know how it goes...

Hope you're all having a great week!

  1. You're too hard on yourself. Yes, everything in moderation..blah, blah...

Splurge on yourself, girl. I wish I had done more splurging when I could...you know, before kids.

You are very responsible. Enjoy your moderation :)

  2. I have been the same way lately! Except my "guilt" is derived from spending instead of saving for our wedding- not Christmas presents- which is even more selfish!
Ugh- but things are so pretty in stores at Christmas time- everything sparkles and I want it all! You know what Carrie Bradshaw says: "I like my money right where I can see it- hanging in my closet"!

Ya, I should REALLY start planning for Christmas :S I wish I had a job that gave Christmas bonuses, I have a feeling I will be baking again this year! Haha

  4. I haven't spent money on anything fun for myself in weeks. Isn't that sad? I get some weird sense of satisfaction when I don't spend money. I even kicked my Big-Gulp and gas station coffee habits and traded in for homemade coffee and canned (diet) cola.

And hubster pays for that because he does the grocery shopping.

I NEVER Christmas shop until the first of December, earliest. I should start making a list, though, of who I am buying for and ideas on what to get.

  7. How fun that you guys are cooking dinner together!

I have started brainstorming on Christmas gifts, but haven't technically purchased any yet. Although I did wrap the scarves I knit for my sisters, sisters-in-law, and mom this weekend. I felt a little nutty buying wrapping paper, but I had a free afternoon and wanted to do something productive!

  8. A girl can never have too many shoes! :) Especially, if you can find them on SALE. Definitely my weakness...clothes and shoes and purses!

p.s. I posted a pic of the Lip Gloss Swap package you sent.

  9. I really enjoy when the hubby and I make dinner together, can't wait to hear how that goes.

For Christmas, I've always been one of those annoying people who does Christmas shopping starting in oh...August or so. I just always have. It helps since my in-laws are in England because we have ot package and send our gifts pretty early to get to them on time as well.

You are not being selfish because you are shopping for you, especially with your deals. And just remember, the shift to holiday shopping is temporary!

  13. The only time I told my now-husband he couldn't read it was when I made a blog specifically for the wedding and I had pics of my dress on it :) We have never really discussed him reading my book blog, he doesn't really like the same books that I do, so I can't imagine him finding much joy in it. I'll have to ask him though if he ever looks.....
