Bday dilemma continued...

Ok, so I decided since tomorrow is his birthday I would send him an early "happy birthday" text. Keep in mind that I have not spoke to him since Saturday night and he did not reply to my text during the day on Sunday.

So today I sent him a text that said "happy early birthday, hope you have a good one." Then two minutes later he texted back "well thank you."

He didn't pursue any further conversation and neither did I. I know I'm analyzing here (big time) but my fear is if I don't get him something and he really does like me he's going to be hurt. Or if I don't make contact with him tomorrow he will be hurt.

You know what? I just read what I just wrote, and I need to put myself first. He's been blowing me off for the past month! If this "relationship" continues, this cycle will never end. I'm a firm believer that people don't change. Is that what I want? No. Is that what I deserve? No. Can I do better? Absolutely!

I'm not saying that he isn't good, I know he's a good person. It's just, like most situations, the timing is not quite right and I need to stop trying to make it work.

  1. My friend just ended things with her bf of 1.5 years. He never ever put her first and she was ALWAYS giving him second chances and waiting on him. I really think she's going to be much better off. She tried to change him time and time again and finally realized she couldn't... People have to WANT to change for themselves I think and if he doesn't WANT to change he probably won't. I agree that you should stop trying to make it work, pursue other things, if it happens it happens :-)

  2. I think you answered your own question! You do need to put yourself first, and do you really want to keep perpetuating this cycle? He can always keep you hanging because of his mixed signals and he can always keep your interest by being hot and then cold. He is a challenge and I really believe women like challenges. But as I commented before, plenty of other fish in the sea!

  3. You already know the answer! There is someone out there who is not going to leave you guessing about how they feel. Don't put up with a bunch of bs, life is too short!

  4. I still think if you want to give him something than do it. But if you do want o move past him, then a present might not be the message you want to send.
