It just dawned on me that the girl I was dogsitting for didn't thank me. Not a voicemail, email or note left on the counter when she picked up the dog.
Isn't it proper to thank the person for doing something nice for you when you would have otherwise had to pay for the dog to be boarded? I would think so...
At first I was really hesitant to watch the dog, my job can be pretty demanding and if something goes wrong in my store I am held 100% responsible. I am gone for looooong hours. This is the reason I do not own a dog of my own and got a cat instead. I was going out of my way.
Maybe she's annoyed that I mentioned keeping him if she was still looking for a new home for him? I don't see why though, she's the one that approached my roommate and I about it almost 2 months ago. Now, she has changed her mind. It seems like, ok you didn't want him before when nobody else wanted him and now that someone wants him you don't want to give him up. Grr...
Buuuuuut, back to my point. Shouldn't she have said "THANK YOU"??? Isn't that basic etiquette or good manners? I'm not asking for a gift or money. Just a simple, "thanks" would suffice.
That's all. Rant over.
She should have said - at the very least - THANK YOU. That's highly inconsiderate of her - sorry Amber. You went above and beyond but you know what, this shows you her character.
ReplyDeleteA thank you was defintely necessary... how rude
ReplyDeleteUmmm, yes. She DEFINITELY should have said Thank You. Don't do any more favours for her!
ReplyDeleteA thank you would have been proper etiquette! I spend $35 a day for Noodles to be boarded. Whenever my friend watches my cats, I give him a gift (he likes candles) or I bring him a souvenir from my trip. And when I watch his cats, he does the same for me. Once he gave me a $100 gift card to PetSmart. On the other hand, I once watched a friend's cat while she was out of the country & I did not get a single thank-you either. Some people's kids!!!
ReplyDeleteA thank you was definitely necessary. That just means you won't do her any more favors since she can't express her gratitude.
ReplyDeleteA Thank You, AT MINIMUM. I'm grateful to anyone that'll look after my dogs. If I'm going on a vacation, I'll get the caretaker or souvenir. It's just courtesy, since you want them to do it again if needed.
