Whenever my friend watches my cats, I give him a gift (he likes candles) or I bring him a souvenir from my trip. And when I watch his cats, he does the same for me. Once he gave me a $100 gift card to PetSmart. On the other hand, I once watched a friend's cat while she was out of the country & I did not get a single thank-you either.
